The Award in Food Safety is a qualification aimed at food handlers working in a manufacturing/catering or retail environment.
The qualification is intended for learners already working in manufacturing catering or retail and those who are preparing to work in the industry.
Learners gaining this qualification will know that food safety is the responsibility of everybody involved in the storage, preparation, and processing, packing and handling food. Its topics are regarded by the Food Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practices in the production of safe food.

Who is this qualification for?
This qualification aims to prepare learners for employment or to support a current position within a low-risk role, where there is an element of food handling. This could include stock/store room staff.
How long will it take?
To complete this qualification learner should expect to undertake 4 hours of learning.
These include the storage, preparation, processing, packing and handling of food.
This qualification is being assessed by a multiple-choice examination.
